J Richardson here, President of the Beeron d'Or.

In these strange and uncertain times it can sometimes feels like the doom and gloom will never end. I don't know about you, but every time I turn on the TV I'm hit with another wave of bad news. And don't get me started on social media!

So we did some thinking. In eight months we'll be gathered in central London for the prestigious 2020 Ballon d'Or awards ceremony... and we'll be celebrating more than one winner.

Yes, that's right! This year there will be another award up for grabs! 

Introducing... The People's Champion. 

The People's Champion award celebrates a different kind of beer, a different kind of beast. We're talking about your single newsagent cans. Your blue collar bottles. Your carrier bag kings.

We're toasting the Big Migs of this world. The Dark Fruits. The Polish grafters. And that wonderful Italian gent, the right honourable Mr Moretti.

Yes, they may be low on taste, but they're high on spirit. They may be unsophisticated, but to us, they're indispensable. So let's celebrate them! It's a highly contested field... and there can only be one winner...
